Definition of "Full time" Enrollment

This definition is for immigration purposes to denote students who are actively pursuing studies and who may be eligible to work on or off campus. Full-time status is the minimum requirement to work on or off campus.

Work refers to work which is authorized by a study permit. Students who also hold work permits may be able to work additional days/hours in addition to work authorized by study permits.

If your academic program has start and end dates which differ from those specified in a typical academic calendar, you can start work on the first day of your program’s term, and you must stop work on the last day of your program’s term.

Definition for a "full time" Student

CPA students are considered full-time if they meet the following criteria:

  • enrolled in ground school, flight training, and simulator training

  • have a minimum of 4 training sessions per week (University students are required to have a minimum of 2 training sessions per week)

  • students must follow school curriculum. Instructors make a fixed schedule. Schedule will be made based on school/instructor; NOT based on students availability

  • Extra bookings available based on instructors availability

Authorized leave

If you’re on an authorized leave from your studies, or you’re switching schools and you’re not studying, you can’t work off campus. You can only return to work once you’re back to studying.
